After spending 35 venerable years in radio, Marlin Taylor wasn't sure he wanted to return to broadcasting. It took XM Radio and the opportunity to do quality '40s programming to lure him back.

Taylor is committed to bringing the era to life. The '40s - XM 4 is not just a jukebox of songs from this time period, Taylor ensures that every ounce of history is preserved through his programming.

"About half our fans are coming to it for the first time," he says. Though he was just a boy in the '40s, Marlin does remember the music from its inception. "A lot of us, young and old, think this is the greatest music there ever was. It was an era of heroism and innocence, of fancy hotels and great railroads," he notes.

A train enthusiast himself, Marlin has nicknamed his channel "The Savoy Express" and has adopted a distinctive train whistle as its audio trademark. "All aboard for a trip to yesterday," he says. "Track Number Four. And don't forget to wear a hat. Nobody goes out without one."
